Ledger Live App – Download & Setup Guide
What is Ledger Live?
Ledger Live is the official app for managing your Ledger hardware wallet, allowing you to send, receive, and check your cryptocurrency balances securely.
Step 1: Download Ledger Live
For Desktop (Windows, MacOS, Linux)
- Go to the official Ledger website: https://www.ledger.com/ledger-live
- Click Download and select your operating system.
- Once downloaded, run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions.
For Mobile (iOS and Android)
- Open your device’s app store (Apple App Store or Google Play Store).
- Search for Ledger Live.
- Download and install the app.
Step 2: Setup Ledger Live App
Open the app after installation.
If you have a Ledger Hardware Wallet:
- Connect your Ledger device to your computer (for desktop) or via Bluetooth (for mobile, if your device supports it).
- Open Ledger Live.
- Select “Get Started”.
- Choose “Initialize as new device” if setting up a new Ledger or “Restore device” if you already have a recovery phrase.
- Follow the steps to verify your device and recovery phrase.
- Add accounts for the cryptocurrencies you want to manage by clicking “Add Account”.
- Ledger Live will sync your balances and transaction history.
If you do NOT have a Ledger hardware wallet (not recommended):
You can install Ledger Live and explore the interface, but you won’t be able to manage assets securely without the hardware wallet.
Step 3: Using Ledger Live
- Send/Receive Crypto: Choose the account, click send or receive, and follow prompts.
- Check portfolio: See your asset balances and portfolio value.
- Manage apps on your Ledger device: Install/uninstall crypto apps on your hardware wallet via the Manager tab.
- Firmware updates: Ledger Live will notify you of firmware updates for your device.
Tips for Security:
- Always download Ledger Live from the official Ledger website or official app stores.
- Never share your recovery phrase.
- Keep Ledger Live and your Ledger device firmware up to date.
